The Lay of the Last Minstrel is a narrative poem by Walter Scott. It tells the story of an aged minstrel who receives hospitality from noble ladies. He sings them his last song, a story of his youth, and the Border Wars between Scotland and England.

This is a well paced well rhymed story that takes the Reader to the end of the medieval period, as it dissolved into modernity. There are wizards and spells, musketeers, goblins, and dwarves. It would please anyone who enjoys high fantasy, medieval literature, or Scottish history.
