Bibliomania is the old word for it — the disease of loving books beyond reason. We have it. If you are here, you may have it too.

We restore long-forgotten books to reawaken the reader to the heritage and birthright of their history. Each edition is retypeset, corrected, and given a new introduction — the editorial work is listed on every book page. The texts come from the Internet Archive, Google Books, the Library of Congress, HathiTrust, and Project Gutenberg. We add our hand; we do not alter the author’s.

The parts of a book have names older than printing itself — the frontispiece, the title page, the colophon, the deckle edge. A restorer ought to know the body he mends. We keep a standing glossary of them, along with the blessings left by the scribes who came before us.

In Chapter XXXII of Moby-Dick, Melville sorts the whales as a printer sorts a press — the Folio, the Octavo, the Duodecimo. We keep his shelving. Our catalogue is sorted by substance, not page count. Read more in Cetology.
